Introduction to Learning Management Systems at IUM

I am Ovawa Ndjoze, student number 230101534 as a student at IUM, with the blog post domain- ovandj04. So, we will be discussing about the purpose and importance of LMS in education, to be specific at IUM.

 

What is LMS?

LMS, Learning Management System, is a software that allows you to create, deliver and even report on training courses and even important programs.

Before the implementation of Learning Management Systems (LMS) at institutions like IUM, education typically relied heavily on traditional methods. Classes were primarily in-person, with lectures and face-to-face interactions as the main modes of instruction. Resources such as textbooks and printed materials were commonly used, and assessment methods included in-person exams and assignments submitted in hard copy.

Communication between students and faculty often happened through office hours or email, with limited opportunities for collaboration outside the classroom. This approach could make it challenging for students to access resources or engage with course materials at their own pace.

Overall, while effective for some, this traditional model had limitations in flexibility and accessibility compared to the more integrated and technology-enhanced environments that LMS provide.
